Every woman is a business owner from conception. The first order of business is to free yourself. You can't run your business without being free. Are you free? Are you a leader?
My Story Begins . . .
Managing people requires managing your individual self. I had no clue that sheep, cows, and mules would give me a life lesson in managing people. I was so confident in believing I was managing people, that I had to get slapped hard by sheep, cows, and mules to accept the truth.
I was not managing people. I was only an enforcer of rules and an implementer of procedures and I didn't cultivate free will and promote it in my team. I didn't make the connection that managing people had anything to do with how people feel, what people believe, or what people lived for.
Managing successful relationships, managing money, business, clients, employees, family, and friends, requires knowing that managing individual free will is how you manage people.
What is management? Management is controlling information and the expectations of people. It requires managing your individual self.
Managing yourself is complicated, uncomfortable, and can be spirit-breaking, however, is very necessary for right-decision making. You can't successfully manage others if you cannot control or manage yourself.
Sheep. Cows. Mules.
Think about how you would lead and manage sheep, cows, and mules without bribery, using bullying force, making threats, playing on personal fears, or disrespecting and dishonoring their free will? ... God never fills any cup without invitation.
How well do you manage the sheep, cow, or mule in you? Do you even know who you are? Or, do you have a little of all three? The reality of your shortcomings is not easy, so be gentle with yourself. It's what being human is all about. Grace is there when you extend the invitation and immerse in the art of being human.
Are you territorial of your business or take ownership of your business? When a manager is territorial, he or she is a liability to the growth of the business and team. When you only respect your free will you are out of alignment and are creating a toxic and hostile environment.
When you take ownership of the true spirit of the role of manager, free will is respected, cultivated, and seeded within the people you manage. Your team will work in alignment and be part of a mutual collective choice. There is no me-and-mine culture. Elevating from a territorial state of mind to an ownership mentality is a definite game-changer in moral code and standard of character.
Think about how you would manage people's expectations. Start with being honest and clear. Begin by setting expectations at a realistic level. Your biggest stumbling block is yourself. Keep your expectations under check.
Do you even know what those around you expect? Have you taken the time to find out or is it all about you? If you don't know what the people around you expect, please do not be surprised when the mutiny takes place. Trust and believe it's going down if you have no clue about their expectations.
Spirit of the living God is a class act. He will never fill your vessel without invitation. No one can force or fear anyone into submission. People must be willing to follow you and willing to choose your leadership. Don't be surprised when the mutiny happens if your team doesn't respect you as a leader.
The focus of this post is not on managing people. The focus is on managing your individual self. How successful are you in controlling the information you feed into you? Are you manipulating the facts for a hidden agenda? Are you processing information truthfully? Are you immersing in reality about yourself? Keep it one hundred, is your view of your reality truthful or delusional? What about your expectations of yourself? Are they realistic or rose-filtered? Do you believe that you are managing your individual self?
